Don’t mix beer and wine. Don’t be surprised, it’s true that mixing drinks don’t really give you a hangover, but mixing them in the wrong order will surely give you one. Why take risk? Wine tastes great alone. So the next time you go on a drinking episode with your friends, stay away from those who like to mix drinks to taste different flavors. And if you have no choice but to mix the drinks, then add wine first and then beer. Also, don’t ever consider prescription drugs an alternative to drinking. They might contain large quantities of alcohol but they surely were made for some other purpose. Don’t consider saving a few bucks and getting drunk right at home. Getting drunk doesn’t come that easy.
Eat before you start drinking. This is difficult for most of us as we all like to feel it gliding down to our stomach and stay there giving us a light and giddy feeling. Don’t count on it. Alcohol will soon start producing acids you have never dreamed of in all your life and give you a hangover in the morning even worse. Having your stomach full before you start drinking also helps to keep you from drinking too much. This way you will avoid a hangover readily and without any disappointment. The food will absorb alcohol and it will help it in its digestion instead of rolling over your stomach altogether.
Alcohol causes dehydration. Don’t delay drinking water until you are feeling an absolute need for it. The more you drink wine, the more dehydrated you will be in the morning with a headache and all those symptoms a wine hangover brings. Here is the tip: drink as much water as you are drinking wine. Yes, one glass of water with every glass of wine you drink. This way it will cause less dehydration and you wouldn’t have to drink tons of water in the morning when you are feeling extremely exhausted.
Drink slowly. No one is watching you and no one cares even if they are. Take short breaks between your glasses of wine. Take a look around, walk here and there and breathe deeply to let it go down and get mixed up with the food. Before you consume your next glass make sure you really need another one. Remember that getting drunk should not be your primary purpose while you are out for a party. Be realistic and learn to say no when your friends are offering you drinks after drinks.
Be resolute about your decision of getting drunk and stop when you think you are drinking too much for a night. Even if people around you are emptying their glasses one after another without any care, you don’t want that. Of course none of these people will come and soothe you in the morning while you are going through one of the hangovers probably a common happening in their lives. Remember that even you have eaten good food enough and you consumed a lot of water with your wine, the wine is still going to hurt you one way or another. Being conservative in this regard doesn’t mean that you are backward; it’s just a decision that you don’t want to play with your life and that it’s very precious for you.
Was the above paragraph too depressing for you? Well, don’t fret yourself too much. Drinking sometimes doesn’t hurt too much, but if you have had a lot of hangovers lately and you want to avoid them for the cost of your life, then don’t drink at all. Taking a glass or two to soothe your senses will not be a bad idea. But keep a watchful eye on what you are consuming and what the timing is. Remember that if you cannot control your desires, your desires will start controlling you.
